Senior Anya Brenkman scored three goals and assisted on three others while setting a school record for goals scored in Sugar River’s 9-0 win over Cambridge/Deerfield/Waterloo on April 29 at New Glarus. Brenkman now has 132 goals and 45 assists in her career, topping a record set by 2011 grad Hannah Kernen. Sugar River wasted no time in scoring. The Raiders scored five times in the first seven and a half minutes. Senior Audry Brueggemann scored a goal on an assist from Brenkman at 2:18, Brenkman got a goal on Brueggemann’s assist at 3:08, and senior Hannah Boldebuck tallied a goal on another assist from Brenkman at 4:57 to make it 3-0. The Raiders weren’t done as Boldebuck scored again at 6:11 with senior Kylie Humke on the assist. Brenkman got her second goal with Boldebuck getting an assist at 7:26. The Raiders closed out the first half scoring on Brueggemann’s goal and Brenkman’s assist at 39:00 to make the score at halftime 6-0. Sugar River scored three unassisted goals in the second half with Brenkman tying the program record at 40:18. Three minutes later, Brenkman broke the record with a kick from the left side at 43:47. Sophomore Nikole Schultz made it 9-0 with an unassisted goal at 49:25. Senior Mackenzie Ohms and junior Savannah Minter each had a save in the shutout win for the Raiders. Sugar River is now 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the Capitol Conference. The Raiders are ranked No. 7 in Division 3 Coaches Poll and were scheduled to play at Platteville-Lancaster on May 1.
