8:00 p.m. - The Knights will be playing for the title! They beat the defending state champion 44-41.
7:58 p.m. - Just 7.8 ticks left, Roncalli ball, NG with a 44-41 lead.
7:52 p.m. - The inbound out of the timeout didn't work well, and Roncalli got a steal and a bucket to tie it at 41. Kreklow then hit a putback with 1:15 left to put NG back up by a score. After another Roncalli miss and Martinson rebound, the fouls have started. Roncalli has just five, so they will need to foul twice more to put NG into the bonus.
7:48 p.m. - Knights still lead 41-39, but there is just 3:10 left in regulation. NG just 3/16 from deep (18 percent), but able to hang in there. Roncalli also dominating the rebounds. NG needs a bucket coming out of this TV timeout.
7:42 p.m. - Just 6:07 left in this one, NG leads 39-37. Mason Martinson has four fouls for the Knights, who have been called for 12 fouls in the game to Roncalli's 4.
7:33 p.m. - Kreklow hits a jumper from the right elbow to send the New Glarus crowd to its feet with 11:07 left. Knights lead is now 37-30 with 10:54 remaining in regulation following Mason Martinson's third foul of the game.
7:26 p.m. - Fast-paced start to this second half, but just two baskets. Kreklow took a steal coast to coast and then Matt LeVene hit his second 3 of the game. 31-30, 14:35 left.
7:17 p.m. - Feller is 3/4 from deep, but the rest of the Knights are 0/7. The 27.3 percent mark is nearly the season average (29.5 percent), which is down considerably from last year. But what the stats don't show is that when Feller (and Kreklow) get hot, they are hard to stop.
7:13 p.m. - Siegenthaler's 3 misses, and we go into the half with the Knights up by two. Here's the live stats for those so included to follow along at home. Feller leads everyone with 13 points, while Kreklow has 10. New Glarus is shooting 13/27 from the field (48 percent), while Roncalli is 10/23 (43 percent).
7:10 p.m. - New Glarus ball with 13.3 seconds left. The score is still 29-27, in favor of the Knights. The hope is for one final shot, let's see who gets it - Feller, Kreklow, Siegenthaler, Gassman or Martinson.
7:06 p.m. - Never count out the Knights. Zach Feller hit a pair of NBA 3s and added another drive to the hoop and New Glarus has taken a 29-27 lead with 1:46 left in the half. Roncalli will have a shooter at the line for bonus free throws, which could potentially tie the game.
This is turning into an instant classic. Let's hope the second half plays out just as exciting.
6:58 p.m. - Chombi Lambert hits a big three and Roncalli leads 25-19. Kreklow is dazzling the crowd (and in essence the state because of TV) with his crossover and driving skills. There's 6:54 left until halftime.
6:49 p.m. - Roncalli has turned over the Knights a couple of times and made the most of it in transition. New Glarus trails 15-11 with 10:48 left it the first. Trevor Gassman has two fouls, which is a big deal for the Knights, who don't go deep on the bench, because Gassman plays much bigger than his 6-foot frame.
6:43 p.m. - We've hit the first TV timeout of the game. New Glarus leads 7-6 with 14:13 left in the first. Martinson scored the first basket of the game in the post, then Feller hit a 3 that sent the NG faithful into a frenzy. Kreklow added a running scoop layup in traffic. Roncalli has a pair of 3-point plays, one on a shot from deep, and another the old fashion way with the hoop and the harm.
6:31 p.m. - I'll tell you who is in a groove right now, Roncalli senior guard Alex Schroeder (1.4 ppg). The kid doesn't see the floor much based on paperwork, but he just made eight consecutive 3s during warmups.
But it's anthem time. Then intros. Then tip.
Here. We. Go.
6:29 p.m - Just about 5 minutes from tip now. New Glarus will be in red jerseys, while Roncalli will be in white.
6:20 p.m. - Let the warmups begin. The Knights come out with brand-new pregame outfits made just for state.
6:15 p.m. - Jaden Kreklow was an all-state player last year as a junior, and I would be surprised if he didn't duplicate that acknowledgement again this season. The New Glarus senior broke the school's all-time scoring and assists records this year, and is averaging 24.0 ppg. Twice this year he's scored 42 points. He's averaging 49.2 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from deep. Cousin and fellow senior captain Zach Feller can get hot from deep, and that's exactly what Knights fans are hoping to see tonight.
6:10 p.m. - Roncalli boasts senior guard Chombi Lambert, who is averaging 22.0 points per game this season and shooting .396 beyond the arc. The No. 2 scorer for the Jets is Ian Behringer, a 6-2 senior forward who shoots its 43.8 percent from deep.
Of course the Knights are not afraid to put up the 3-point shot themselves, hucking up 552 3s on the season to this point.
6:03 p.m. - The New Glarus Glarner Knights (24-2) are about 35 minutes away from tip-off against defending state champion Manitowoc Roncalli (26-0) in a WIAA Division 4 state semifinal game.
This is the first trip for the Knights to the state tournament since 1932, and their fourth overall. New Glarus has never won the title, according to the WIAA.
