LATE SOCCER:: Raiders near conference title after upending Cambridge

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River girls soccer team blanked Cambridge, 6-0, Tuesday to put itself within one game of winning the Capitol Conference.

Hannah Kernen scored one minute into the game on an assist by Roz Judd.

Kernen scored the second of her four goals at the 8:45 mark in the first half.

Kaitlyn Schluter put a pass from Tara Duffin into the back of the net in the 12th minute to give Sugar River a 4-0 lead.

Kernen finished her hat trick in the 26th minute off a pass from Leah Sonnenburg.

Katie Viney scored off a pass from Lauren Narveson in the 28th minute to give the Raiders a 5-0 lead before halftime.

Kernen scored the final goal of the game in the 64th minute with an assist from Mackenzie Christensen.

Brittany Harried, Kelsey Engelke and Schluter each had a save in goal for the Raiders.

The junior-varsity team won 5-0.

Notes: According to the new Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association weekly poll, both Sugar River (13-3-3) and Monroe (11-5-3) are named to the Division 2 honorable mention list. ...
