MONONA - The Monroe-New Glarus girls swimming team turned in three first-place finishes but lost a dual meet to Monona Grove 95-73 Tuesday.

"We have to keep looking at the steps forward," Monroe-New Glarus coach Linda Moser said. "Even though we finished first in only three events we still achieved our goal of scoring more points than last year. This gives the girls the fuel they need to practice hard and with focus."

Monroe junior Skylar Lassen won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 9.20 seconds. Senior teammate Abby Oudinot won the 50 freestyle (27.27). The Cheesemakers' 200 medley relay team of senior Anna Wolf, sophomore Maddie Hammer, Oudinot and sophomore Grace Keith won with a time of 2:00.15.
