NEW GLARUS - New Glarus girls basketball coach Megan Scheele turned to a halfcourt press at just the right time Friday night.

New Glarus (4-5) went to a press in the third quarter, outscored the Poynette 24-1 in the period and rolled to a 57-39 victory in Capitol Conference play.

"We started a roll and never looked back," Scheele said. "That press really got the energy going. We got a lot of steals off the press. We all did it together."

Sophomore Courtney Feller scored 13 points to lead the Knights, while junior Anya Schween and senior Alycia Atwell each scored 12 points.

BLACK HAWK 34, PECATONICA 24

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica had an upset on the mind after taking a 19-16 lead against Black Hawk, but the Warriors outscored the Vikings 11-2 in the third quarter to take control.

"At halftime we were down three points and I will take that every time," Pecatonica coach Matt Bakkum said. "Defensively, I was happy with what we did holding them to 34 points. Twenty-four points will not beat anyone, let alone Black Hawk."
