Knights fare well at Capitol meet

LAKE MILLS - The New Glarus boys cross country team finished fourth overall in the Capitol Conference Meet on Saturday.

Travis Beutler led the Glarner Knights with a 17:32 time and a fifth place finish. Corey Jones finished just two seconds and one place behind Beutler.

Carl Pratt (18:24, 26th place) led the second wave of Knights, with Tyler Meier (18:27, 28th place) and Kelvin Pryor (18:41, 31st place) capping off the point-qualifiers for New Glarus.

Marshall won the boys race with 57 points, compared to New Glarus' 96. Marshall also won the girls race with 75 points, and the Knights finished in sixth overall with 135 points.

Kelsey Bernet stepped across the finish line within milliseconds after Marshall's Ashleigh Giese for second place with a time of 15:49. Rachel Miller was the next Knight to cross the endline with a time of 17:23 (23rd place). Elizabeth Brunner (17:39, 30th place), LouAnn Judd (17:41, 31st place), and Jenna Sunderlage (18:31, 49th place) rounded out New Glarus' point-getters.
