NEW GLARUS - The Glarner Knights saw a 13 point lead evaporate, but held on to defeat the Vanguards, 55-51 Tuesday.
New Glarus made just 10 of 21 free throws, including four in a row that allowed Wisconsin Heights to come back late in the game.
New Glarus took a 27-19 halftime lead behind senior Tanya Gruter's 10 second-quarter points. Gruter finished with 18 points while sophomore Alycia Atwell scored 13 points and senior Michelle Preston added 12 for New Glarus (2-1 Capitol South, 3-5 overall).
The Glarner Knights travel to Waterloo Friday.

MONTICELLO - The Ponies held Pecatonica to just 17 points in the second half to upend the Vikings in a Six Rivers East conference game Tuesday.
Senior Kelsey Bernet and junior Taylor Pfeuti led the Ponies with 10 points each. Bernet also starred on defense for Monticello, guarding Pecatonica's Kimee Chandler and holding the UW-Milwaukee recruit to just nine points, nearly eight below her average.
"Any time you can hold Kimee Chandler to nine points, that is a heck of an accomplishment," said Tom Eveland, Monticello head coach.
Junior Ellie Gifford topped the Vikings with 11 points and senior Megan Rindy scored eight points for Pecatonica.
Monticello (2-3 Six Rivers East, 3-6 overall) travels to Argyle Friday while Pecatonica (2-4 Six Rivers East, 4-8 overall) will have a non-conference game at River Valley Monday.
Darlington 56, Southwestern 50
HAZEL GREEN - The Redbirds ended a seven-game losing streak with a win over the Wildcats in SWAL Conference action Tuesday.
Sophomore Amy Jorgenson poured in 19 points and junior Shawni Smith scored 13 to lead the Redbirds.
Darlington trailed 39-38 entering the fourth quarter but outscored the Wildcats, 18-11, to claim the win.
Darlington (3-4 SWAL, 4-7 overall) will be on the road Friday at Boscobel.
Barneveld 68, Argyle 13
BARNEVELD - The Eagles shut out the Orioles 23-0 in the first quarter, and 11 players scored for Barneveld, in a 68-13 rout of Argyle Tuesday.
Sophomore Courtney Gilbertson scored a team-high five points for Argyle. Cortney Sullivan led all scorers with 17 points for Barneveld (5-1 Six Rivers East, 8-4 overall).
Argyle (0-6 Six Rivers East, 2-10 overall) will host Monticello Friday.
