MONROE - The ninth annual JUST TRI Youth Triathlon will be held Saturday, Aug. 4.
The triathlon is for kids ages 7 to 17 and those who participate can choose to compete as individuals or as part of a team. A Tot Tri will also be available for children ages 4 to 6.
Check-in times for 4- to 10-years-old is from 7 to 8 a.m. Check-in times for 11- to 17-years old is from 7 to 8:30 a.m. The Tot Tri race starts at 8:30 a.m. The race for 7- to 10-year-olds starts at 9 a.m. the 11 to 17 year old race starts at 10 a.m.
The Green County Family YMCA, Monroe, is providing the opportunity for young people to experience the sport of triathlon, test their strength of character and just enjoy the challenge of the combination of swimming, biking and running. Participating in triathlons is a superb fitness program capitalizing on the benefits of cross training in three different sports, officials said in a release.
Refreshments, awards and giveaways (including a bicycle) will follow the race. Register at the YMCA or online at www.greencountyymcayouthtriathlon.com.
