JUDA - The Panthers celebrated their annual 'Strike Out Cancer' game with a 1-0, nine-inning win over Argyle.

"It's nice to see two teams come together like that," Juda coach Bill Davis said. "Argyle was a great team to do it with."

The two teams have been raising money for cancer research, and the game included a brat bash and other activities.

On the softball field, it was a pitcher's duel. Juda's Amber Ramos, the reigning conference player of the year, struck out 13 batters and allowed three hits and two walks in nine innings. Argyle freshman Jessica Treuthardt threw nearly as well, allowing six hits, four walks while striking out 13.

Alycia Grenzow opened the bottom of the ninth with a double and moved to third on a passed ball. Two batters later, Jessica Rackow laced the game-winning RBI single.

"Argyle came out and played their hearts out," Davis said. "Treuthardt threw a great game. She was really moving the ball around. Hats off to her."

With the win, Juda (14-3, 11-0) clinched the Six Rivers East Conference title outright.
