Juda-Albany rolls by RR, Belmont

JUDA - Juda-Albany senior Nicki Becker tossed a no-hitter and two shutouts to lead the Panthers to a 2-0 win over Belmont and a 12-0 five-inning victory over River Ridge Thursday.

Becker struck out a combined 25 and no-hit Belmont. With the two wins, Juda-Albany won its fourth straight Six Rivers East Conference championship outright.

"It's really a great accomplishment," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said of the four-peat. "Winning a conference championship is tough. As a coach you don't know when you will another one. It shows our hard work."

In the first game against Belmont, Juda-Albany (15-2, 13-0 Six Rivers East) scored two runs in the first inning. Juda-Albany senior Hailey Kammerer walked and Kirsten Oliver moved her into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Senior teammate Sammi Detra then delivered an RBI single to score Kammerer. Fellow senior Hailey Freitag then came through with an RBI single to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead Becker made stand up. She struck out 13 and walked one.

In the second game against River Ridge, Detra went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIS to power the Panthers to the win. Kammerer hit a solo home run and Detra crushed a two-run home run in a five-run second inning to give the Panthers an 8-0 lead.

Juda-Albany senior Victoria Euclide-Peig went 2-for-2 and sophomore Lydia Bouc finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Becker tossed a two-hit shutout against the Timberwolves to get the win. She struck out 12 and didn't issue a walk.



Argyle 10,

River Ridge 5

ARGYLE - Senior Brianne Connors went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a triple to lead the Orioles to a 10-5 win over River Ridge Thursday.

Argyle (3-10, 3-9 Six Rivers East) pounded out 10 hits and had a four-run fourth inning to jump out to the lead. The Orioles scored four more runs in the sixth to put the game away.

Argyle junior Kirsten Ostby went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and junior Jadyn Saalsaa was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Junior teammate Alysabeth Lantz also knocked in three runs.

Argyle sophomore Kyah Hendrickson pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up five runs on seven hits, while striking out four and walking three.



Evansville 7, Brodhead 2

BRODHEAD - Evansville's Elizabeth Klitzman tossed a three-hitter to propel the Blue Devils to a 7-2 win over the Cardinals Thursday.

Klitzman pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up two runs and struck out three to earn the win. Evansville's Cammy Simpson had three hits. Teammates Sara Fredrickson and Laua Bettenhousen each added two hits to the Blue Devils' 10-hit attack.

Brodhead scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 2. The Blue Devils sealed the victory with a five-run sixth.

Brodhead senior Azzy Steiner pitched a complete game and gave up two earned runs on 10 hits and struck out eight.
