ORFORDVILLE - The Juda-Albany softball team got some clutch hitting from senior Katlynn Rhyner and swept two games at Orfordville Parkview Saturday, April 12.
The Panthers rolled to a 12-2 five-inning win over Parkview and came back to beat Evansville 8-6.
Juda-Albany (5-2, 0-2 Six Rivers East) rallied from a 6-2 deficit against Evansville. Sophomore Jessica Crull tripled and freshman Sara Jordan delivered a game-tying RBI single to tie the game at 6. Freshman Riley Atkins came through with a go-ahead RBI single to give the Panthers a 7-6 lead. Rhyner then came through with an RBI single to give the Panthers the win.
Atkins and Rhyner each had singles in the sixth that set the table for Alexis Goecks who had an RBI single.
"They (Atkins and Rhyner) started the ball rolling," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "She (Rhyner) has been clutch for us a few times this year."
Crull went 3-for-4 and Alexis Goecks was 2-for-3. Rhyner and Jordan each went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Atkins was 2-for-4.
Juda-Albany senior Tabatha Davis pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up one earned run on seven hits. Davis struck out nine and walked two. The Panthers were plagued by seven errors.
"They didn't quit after that," Davis said. "That showed a little bit of heart."
In the first game against Parkview, the Panthers pounded out 16 hits in the win. Juda-Albany senior Morganne Goecks went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Alexis Goecks was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Senior Erica Turner went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Crull was 2-for-4.
"The bats broke out a little bit for us," Davis said. "It was a good game all-around."
Tabatha Davis tossed a complete game. In five innings, she gave up two runs on six hits. She struck out five and walked one.
