BRODHEAD - The Brodhead-Juda girls track team used its depth in the relays to win the Jim Church Invitational title Friday.

The Cardinals edged Clinton, 122-120, to win the title. Brodhead senior Cassie Wymer had a hand in winning four events. She finished first in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 33 seconds) and in the long jump (16 feet). She also was a vital cog in the Cardinals' winning 800 and 1,600 relays.

In the 800 relay, Wymer teamed up with Amanda Johnson, Shannon Klein and Larissa Klemm to win the event with a time of 1:53.9, which was two seconds faster than Clinton.

The same quartet won the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:19.6. Johnson took first in the 200 (:27.5) and Klein won the 400 (1:04.7). Heather Clankie added a first place in the discus (100-7).

Albany, which finished fifth out of nine teams, received a first-place finish from senior Devan Brugger in the 100 hurdles (:16.6), which was one-tenth of a second ahead of a Clinton hurdler.

The Comets' 3,200 relay team of Rosy Bauman, Jordan Mauerman, Courtney Pfeuti and Nicolette Blumer took first with a time of 11:01.1. Blumer took second in the 800 (2:37).

In the boys meet, Brodhead-Juda finished fourth with 101 points, which was just eight points away from third-place Clinton. McFarland edged Beloit Turner, 115-110, to win the title.

The Albany boys track team took seventh out of nine teams. Albany senior Jake Lincicum won the 800 with a time of 2:03.7.
