J/A knocks off Argyle; Darlington falls

ALBANY - Juda-Albany senior Haley Freitag went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBI to power the Panthers to a 10-0 six-inning win over Argyle in Albany Tuesday.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Argyle, but was moved to Albany since officials were able to get their field ready.

"I appreciate the hard work they put in to get their field ready," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "It's the same boat everyone else is in with games piling up. It was cold, but it was nice to get the game in and get it under our belt."

Juda-Albany senior Nicki Becker tossed a one-hit shutout, struck out 13 and walked none. Argyle junior Jadyn Saalsaa had the lone hit for the Orioles - a single in the first. With the win, Juda-Albany improves to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Six Rivers East. Argyle drops to 0-3.

The Panthers got their first run in the second inning off Argyle junior pitcher Natalie Romdemme after singles by sophomore Lydia Bouc and senior Victoria Euclide-Petig. Senior Maddie Roth then had an RBI groundout to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Bouc finished the game 2-for-3.

Freitag had an RBI double in the third to extend the Panthers' lead to 2-0. Juda-Albany broke the game open with a six-run sixth. The big blow in the inning came on Freitag's two-run home run.

Romdemme pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up six earned runs on nine hits. She struck out three and walked seven.



Beloit Turner 13, Brodhead 1

BRODHEAD - Beloit Turner's Kenzy Conkle tossed a five-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Trojans past the Cardinals in a Rock Valley Conference game Tuesday.

Beloit Turner's Trinity Fry had two hits and two RBI and MacKenna Forbes drove in two runs to lead the Trojans. Beloit Turner scored seven runs in the first inning off Brodhead starting pitcher Azzy Steiner. The Cardinals were plagued by five errors.

Steiner pitched a complete game and struck out three. Turner had 13 total hits compared to five for the Cardinals.



Potosi 15,

Darlington 0

DARLINGTON - The Chieftains pounded out 16 hits and rolled past the Redbirds in a six-inning nonconference game.

Potosi scored three runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead. The Chieftains put the game away with an eight-run fourth.

Darlington pitcher Alyssa Tuescher pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up 12 earned runs on 16 hits and walked one.

The Chieftains limited the Redbirds to just one hit. Darlington's Lucy Heinberg went 1-for-2 at the plate.
