OREGON - The Monroe wrestling team continued its hot streak by defeating Oregon 40-26 in a Badger South Conference dual meet Tuesday night.

"The whole team wrestled great tonight, everyone fought hard, worked hard and we stayed off our backs when we needed to," Monroe coach Jeriamy Jackson said. "We are really wrestling well right now and I hope we can keep this going through conference and regionals in the coming weeks. It was just a great dual meet to be at and see this team get to work."

Monroe freshman Kevin Klopfenstein at 125 pounds defeated Devin Bitter 9-0. Sophomore Cody Stamm at 130 pounds won a major decision by beating Kurt Stetzer, 11-3.

At 140 pounds Caleb Rupnow pinned Brock Padley in 3 minutes, 39 seconds. Junior heavyweight Nick Walker, on the heels of winning a Monroe Invitational title Saturday, pinned Brett Christianson in 1:39. Senior Cory Kundert (215) defeated Max Sampson in a technical fall, 18-0, in 4:59.

Freshman Aaron Hesgard (103) defeated Kyle O'Brien 7-4. Rustin Alton won by a forfeit at 119, and senior Dillon Weckerly (171) lost a tough match, 3-2, to Dustin Lee.

Monroe hosts Badger South Conference leader Milton Thursday. Milton is ranked third in the Crossface Division 1 team rankings.

"We will have our hands full with that match," Jackson said.
