Honors roll in for Six Rivers' best

MONROE - There were 17 football players honored by the Six Rivers Conference recently.

There were six players that received first team all-conference accolades. Black Hawk senior Coltin Piefer was named first team all-conference as an offensive guard and linebacker. On offense, Black Hawk senior Kyle Walters and Pecatonica-Argyle senior Dillon Conwell were named first team all-conference at wide receiver.

The other first team players on offense include Pecatonica-Argyle senior Alec Treuthardt as a specialist and junior Christopher Severson at kicker. Treuthardt was also named to the first team at defensive back.

Potosi, the WIAA Division 7 state runner-up, won the conference by going 7-0 and finished two games ahead of Pecatonica-Argyle and Black Hawk. The Chieftains had seven players earn all-conference at nine different positions led by quarterback Tim Fritz, who was named the Six Rivers Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Potosi's Mitch Langkamp was named the defensive player of the year and Tyler Udelhoven was named the linemen of the year. Potosi coach Mark Siegert was named the conference coach of the year after guiding the Chieftains to the school's first state championship game.

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Jon Hendrickson was named second team all-conference at quarterback, punter and honorable mention all-conference at defensive back.

Black Hawk junior Tanner Sweeney was named second team at running back and Pecatonica-Argyle senior Nick Gilbertson was named second team as an offensive guard.

Black Hawk senior Logan Stietz was named second team all-conference as a defensive lineman and junior Seth Butler was second team at defensive back.

Black Hawk senior Merik Meythaler was named honorable mention all-conference at quarterback and senior teammates Mike Powers at tackle and Cory Rupnow at wide receiver were named honorable mention. The Vikings had three other players named honorable mention all-conference on offense including senior Nathan Loyd (wide receiver), senior Travis Gilson (tackle) and senior Brandon Ziller (specialist).

The honorable mention players on defense for the Vikings included junior Lucas McKeon (lineman) and Conwell (defensive end). Black Hawk senior Cuyler Meier (outside linebacker) and Rupnow (punter) also received honorable mention honors.
