DODGEVILLE - The Monroe Brewers kept up its playoff pace for a first round bye with a 4-3 win over Dodgeville in Sunday's Home Talent game.

Cody Boals took the win on the mound, tossing 7 2/3 innings. Justin Hahn came in with two runners on and a two-run lead in the eighth and later worked his way out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season - all of which were more than just an inning pitched.

"Justin did really well again," Monroe co-player-manager Lon Schuerell said. "Our pitching and defense have won us close games all season, and the same was true today."

Monroe (11-3) got on the board after a Scott White RBI groundout in the second inning. In the fourth, Mike Cleary, Schuerell and White all walked to load the bases. Tyler Goninen then safely executed a suicide squeeze to give Monroe a 2-1 lead. Hahn was then hit by a pitch to bring the score to 3-1.

The Brewers' final run came in the seventh as Cleary brought in Rooney Janecke with a sacrifice fly. Janecke had doubled to lead off the inning.

Wiota 9,

Platteville 6

WIOTA - Merrill Brunson's bat has been Wiota's spark all season. Against Platteville, Sunday, it was no different.

Brunson, who was 2-for-4, hit a grand slam to cap a five-run eighth inning and give the Indians enough insurance runs for the win.

Brock Bidlingmaier picked up the win on the mound, tossing eight innings with 10 strikeouts.

Platteville scored four runs in the ninth inning to make the game interesting, but Jeff Solberg closed the door for Wiota (5-9).

Bidlingmaier was 3-3 and Nick Flannery was 2-2 at the plate for Wiota.
