Harding, Urness propel Cards to titles

BRODHEAD - Both the Brodhead-Juda boys and girls track teams won Rock Valley South Conference meets Tuesday.

The Brodhead boys track team outdistanced Clinton for the team title 190-145 and the Brodhead girls clipped Clinton 151-130 for the championship.

In the girls' meet, Brodhead-Juda freshman Maddie Harding won three individual events including the 100-meter dash (13.11), 200 (27.12) and the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches). She added a second-place finish in the 400 (1:01.49).

Brodhead-Juda junior Ann Beyer won the shot put (32-0 1/2). The Cardinals' 3,200 relay team of Mackenzie McIntyre, Morgan Adkins, Morgan Tresemer and Kora Purdue won the race with a time of 10:36.

Taylor Bluemel finished second place in the 1,600 (5:23.46) and Kaya Douglas took second in the 300 hurdles (55.25). Teammate Sage Harper finished second place in the discus (94-8).

Brodhead-Juda sophomore Tyler Urness in the boy's meet won the 800 (2:06.68) and the 1,600 (4:44.12). Senior C.J. Hack finished first in the 400 (53.33) and was on the winning 1,600 relay.

Hack teamed with Jack Speckman, Jakob Harper and Noah Steinmann to win the 1,600 relay (3:41.94. The Cardinals won three of the four relays.

The Cardinals' 400 relay team of Gavin Baade, Dylan Kubly, Mitchell Johnson and Jake Pickel won the race (47.22.) Harper teamed with Dereck Byrne, Nate Ciabatti and Ruben Larson to win the 3,200 relay (9:30.6).

Brodhead-Juda senior Logan Maurer finished first in the discus (148-2) and second place in the shot put (49-3). Johnson won the 110 high hurdles (16.47).

Steinmann took second place in the 300 hurdles (45.61) and Ciabatti finished second place in the 3,200 (11:13.59).
