Greendale handles Avalanche

WILSON PARK - A shortage of numbers has been a pattern for the Monroe Avalanche this season, and in their WIAA regional matchup against the Greendale Panthers, this was the story again. The seventh-seeded Panthers took control of the game early and ended up winning by a final score of 12-0 over the 10th-seeded Avalanche.

"You have to credit them (Greendale), they're a tough team," Avalanche coach Nate Brown said.

While his team's playoff hopes have likely ended early, Brown said he is optimistic about his team's future and the way they handled situations over the past couple of weeks.

"We've had a shortage of skaters these last few games, but to do what our kids have done is just a credit to them as players." Brown said. "A lot of teams in the same circumstances would have thrown in the towel and quit, but our guys didn't. I'm very proud of them, and I look forward to seeing them improve come next year."
