Gems shine at state meet

SHEBOYGAN - Twenty-five girls of the Green County Gems gymnastics team participated in the state YMCA meet March 20-21.

Sadie Swenson, 14, took first overall in her prep-optional all-around with a score of 36.425. Swenson was first overall on the vault (8.823), third on the bars (9.1) and beam (9.25), and was sixth on the floor (9.25).

Tre Voegeli, 13, placed fifth in her prep-optional division, casting an overall score of 35.535. She finished third in the bars (9.1), fifth in the vault (8.425) and sixth on the beam (8.9). Veronica Andraski, 16, rounded out the Gems' prep-ops with an all-around of 34.325, with a sixth-place finish in the vault (8.35).

Jenny Knox, 17 and a level 7 gymnast, took first on the floor (9.45). Maria Eberle, 18 and level 8, was sixth on the vault (8.6). Chandra McGuire, 14 and level 7, took second on the beam (9.025) and ninth in the vault (8.875).

Josie Eberle, 11, and Ramsey Benkert, 13, also took part in the level 7 division for the Gems.

Level 4

Jordan Hirsbrunner, 11, took fifth in the all-around (36.625). Hirsbrunner took top honors on the bars (9.325), was eighth on the beam (9.025) and finished ninth on the floor (9.2).

Lexus Trickel, 11, was eighth in the all-around (36.35), including a sixth-place finish on the bars (9.175), eighth on the beam (9.025) and 12th on the floor (9.15).

Casey Rielly, 10, was 11th in the all-around, taking sixth on the bars (9.275) and 10th on the beam (9.0). Meredith Hose was 14th in the all-around (35.7). Anya Teasdale, 9, took second on the beam (9.1) and Baylie Engels, 11, finished 10th on the bars (9.1) and 11th on the beam (8.9).

Level 3

Rhianna Teubuert, 9, finished second overall in the all-around (37.35). Teubuert took top honors on the beam (9.6), was second on the floor (9.6) and the vault (9.5) and was seventh on the bars (8.65).

Lindsay Egger, 11, finished ninth in the all-around (35.9). Egger made the most of her floor routine, finishing third (9.3). She also took fifth in the vault (9.35) and 11th on the bars (8.45).

Heather Burkhalter, 8, was 13th in the all-around in the division with a score of 35.85.

Madeline Kuckuk, 10, was fourth on the beam (9.4) and 11th on both the floor (9.15) and vault (9.3). Jensen Christensen, 8, was sixth on the floor (9.4); Olivia Bobak, 8, took eighth on the beam (9.15); and Maggy Johnson, 13, was 11th on the beam (9.1).
