SHEBOYGAN - The Green County YMCA Gems gymnastics team had 18 participants at the Sheboygan meet, Jan. 6 and 7. Of those 28, the Gems had two winners and a second-place finish in the all-around competition.
Fourteen-year-old Sadie Swenson took first place in her all-around division. Swenson scored a 9.5 in the floor (first), a 9.4 on the beam (first), a 9.2 on the vault (second) and a 7.9 bar routine (sixth).
Alicia Kuester, 11, took first overall in her division, scoring a 9.1 on the bars (fifth), 9.0 on the beam (sixth), 9.3 on the floor (fifth) and a 9.45 vault (second) for a total score of 36.85.
Rhianna Teubert, 9, was second, picking up two firsts (floor, 9.7, and vault, 9.55), a third (bars, 9.05) and a fifth (beam, 8.8).
Level 7 gymnast, 17-year-old Jenny Knox, took first on the floor with an 8.8. Overall, Knox scored a 29.6. Fellow Level 7 gymnasts also competed at the meet as Josie Eberle, 11, had a 29.6 all-around, Ramsey Benkert, 13, scored a 30.0 and Chandra McGuire, 14, had a 30.25. Maria Eberle, a 16-year-old, Level 8 gymnast, had a 29.65 all-around score.
Jordan Hirsbrunner, 11, had a second-place finish on the bars, scoring a 9.2, and a fifth on the floor (8.9). All-around, Hirsbrunner had a 36.0 score, good enough for fifth in her division. Casey Rielly, 10, took 10th overall, which included a fifth-place finish on the bars (9.35).
Anya Teasdale, 9, had a fourth-place finish in the bars (8.9) and Meredith Hose, 10, scored a fourth-place finish in the beam (9.1). Lexus Trickel, 11, took fourth in the floor (9.0) and 11th on the bars (8.8). Madeline Kuckuk, 10, had a ninth-place finish on the beam (8.9). Jensen Christensen, 8, also had a ninth-place finish on the beam (8.9).
