Gems earn 1st-place trophies

MONROE - The Green County YMCA Gems Gymnastics team competed at the Southwood County YMCA Gymnastics Meet on Dec. 6. The Gems had a winning weekend with Levels 1, 2, 3, 8 and Xcel Platinum bringing home the first-place team trophies.

Two Level 1 gymnasts competed at the meet for the Gems and both earned first place in every event and all-around in their age groups. Raevynn Jackson and Kaylyn Albert both swept the events with first place on bars, beam, floor, vault and all-around.

The Level 2 team had 10 gymnasts compete at Southwood County. Kenadee Johnson swept all events with first place on bars, beam, floor, vault and all-around in her age group. Kate Kundert placed first on bars, vault, floor and all-around, and second on the beam, with Maddie Davis earning first place on the beam. Katrina Sathoff and Hailey Thompson took first and second place, respectively, in their age group. Sathoff earned first place on bars, beam and vault and second on floor, and Thompson earned first place on floor and second on beam and vault. Jessy Ruckman had first-place finishes on the bars, beam and for all-around in her age group. Vaughn Barker and Morgan Schneeberger finished first and second place, respectively, for all-around in their age group. Barker took first on bars and beam and second on vault, while Schneeberger finished first on floor and vault and second on bars and beam. Tess Nafzger took home second place on the vault and for her floor routine.

For Level 3, Kaegann Paulson earned second place on the bars and Sophia McGuire took second place on the beam in their age group. Karis Paulson earned first place all-around with first-place finishes on the bars, floor and vault. Sierra McGuire earned second-place all-around in her age group with a first place on the beam. Raegun Buhlmann took home second place on the beam and floor. Kaylea Paulson and Maddie Deegan took first- and second-place all-around, respectively, for their age group. Paulson finished first on the bars and vault and second on the beam, and Deegan took home first on the beam and second on the bars and floor. Maddison Markham finished first in the all-around competition for her age group at Level 3 with first-place finishes on the bars, beam and vault.

Heather Burkhalter earned second-place all-around at Level 4 with a first place on the floor and second on the bars, beam and vault. Bri Seagreaves earned first place for her bar routine.

At Level 8, Josie Eberle earned first place on the bars, beam and vault and first-place all-around.

Faith Koester finished first at the Xcel Platinum level with first place on the beam, floor and vault, and Elizabeth Brennan took home a first-place medal on the bars.
