STEVENS POINT - Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the Green County Family YMCA Gems Gymnastics team all brought home first-place team trophies from the Stevens Point Area YMCA meet on Jan. 10 and 11. Twenty-seven gymnasts competed at the meet for the Gems, with everyone placing in at least one event. The Gems are hosting a meet at the YMCA in Monroe on Saturday, which is open to the public.
Raevynn Jackson and Kaylyn Albert each earned first-place all-around in their age groups for Level 1. Jackson took home first place on the bars, beam and floor and third on the vault, and Albert swept all events for first place. Also competing for the Level 1 Gems was Katelyn Kleeman, who earned second place on the bars and beam, third on the floor and third-place all-around in her age group.
All eight gymnasts who competed for the Level 2 Gems team placed in the all-around competition. Kate Kundert placed second all-around with a first on the beam, third on the bars and fourth on vault and the floor. Hailey Thompson took first all-around and Morgan Kleeman took third in the 9-year-old division at Level 2. Thompson was first on bars, second on beam, fifth on floor and sixth on vault, and Kleeman finished sixth on bars, third on beam and fourth on vault. Jessy Ruckman earned first on beam, third on bars and second-place all-around for her age group. Morgan Schneeberger and Vaughn Barker finished first and third, respectively, in the 11-year-old age group. Schneeberger was first on bars, second on the floor and vault and third on beam, while Barker finished first on the beam, tied for second on the floor and vault and sixth on the bars. Tess Nafzger was second-place all-around in her age group at Level 2 with second places on the beam and floor and fourth place on the bars. Gwen Jamison was second on bars, fifth on floor and sixth on beam and vault for fourth-place all-around.
The Level 3 Gems competed against 12 other teams for their first-place team finish. Kaegann Paulson earned fourth on the bars and fifth on the beam for a second-place all-around finish in the 8-and-under group, while Sophia McGuire was first on beam, second on vault and sixth on bars for third-place all-around at the same age level. In the Level 3 10-year-old group, Ripplee Dunlavey was the first-place all-around champion, Karis Paulson took second, Sierra McGuire fourth and Raegun Buhlmann sixth. Dunlavey was first on beam, second on bars, sixth on floor and 10th on vault; Paulson tied for first on floor, and finished fourth on bars, beam and vault. McGuire was second on beam, 10th on floor and 11th on the bars while Buhlmann tied for first on floor, and was fifth on the bars and 12th on the beam. Kaylea Paulson was the age 11 all-around champion for Level 3 with three firsts on the bars, beam and floor and second on the vault. Jill Marty tied for first on the bars and was second on floor and seventh on vault for fourth place at age 11, and Maddie Deegan earned ninth place on floor. Maddison Markham finished fourth all-around in the 12-and-over age group for Level 3 with a first place vault, fifth on bars, sixth on floor and seventh on beam. Lizzie Snider earned two medals taking home third on floor and fourth on vault.
At Level 4, Bri Seagreaves finished fourth on floor and Heather Burkhalter was third on floor and beam and fourth on bars.
In the Xcel Platinum group, Faith Koester was fourth all-around with a first on floor, fourth on beam and fifth on vault and Lizzy Brennan earned third for her floor routine.
Josie Eberle competed at Level 8, earning second place on the vault.
