SOUTH WAYNE - Freshman Natalie Leuzinger poured in 28 points to lead the Black Hawk girls basketball team to a 62-33 nonconference victory over Stockton in the Warriors' season opener Monday.
Leuzinger scored 21 points in the first half to help the Warriors build a 35-12 advantage.
Hannah Butler added nine points for Black Hawk.
The Warriors hit eight 3-pointers, including two each from Leuzinger, Brianna Hagen and Maddy Huschitt.
"Leuzinger has a good repertoire of ways to score," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "With Leuzinger, Butler and Huschitt all freshmen, our young kids in their first varsity experience did some good things tonight."
JUDA 74, SOUTH BELOIT 40
JUDA - Ten Juda girls basketball players scored, led by senior Chelsea Burkhalter, to lead the Panthers over South Beloit in nonconference action.
Burkhalter scored nine of her 16 points in the first half to help Juda gain a 45-11 lead. She had two 3-pointers in the game.
