MONROE - Four Monroe Mat Rat wrestlers placed at the WWF Folkstyle State Championships this past weekend. Wrestlers competed in brackets based on their birth years.
Traiten Gorr fought hard for a third place finish in the 1998-99, 190-pound bracket. This was Gorr's last year for the competition. He will move on to wrestle at Monroe High School next year.
Fourth place in the 2001-02, 87-pound bracket was taken by first-time state competitor Patrick Rielly.
Cole Murray (115) finished fifth in the 1999-2000 bracket. He wrestled back from a loss on Friday night.
Sixth place in the 2003-04, 69-pound division was taken by Luke Dubach. In the 1997-98, 115-pound division McKenzy Foley faced double elimination, but he will also move on to be a Cheesemaker next year.
