MONROE - Fort Atkinson picked up a quick goal and the Monroe girls soccer team was not able respond, as the Cheesemakers fell to the Blackhawks, 3-0 Tuesday, May 7.

Brigette Jira scored a goal for Fort Atkinson just one minute into the game. The Blackhawks picked up another goal 39 minutes into first half and their third goal in the second half at the 65:25 mark.

"They had some very fast, attacking players," said Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill. "Jira scored two of the goals. She was very skilled, very intense. She beat us a few times to the goal. They came out very intense."

Fort had 16 shots on goal compared to 9 for Monroe.

"We got some good shots on the goal. Unfortunately again they didn't find the back of the net," said O'Neill. "Maddie Kallgren and Gabby Ludwig played a good, strong attacking game. Maddie Knutson also really stepped it up from the midfield. We just couldn't find the back of the net."

Monroe is now 1-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the Badger South. The Cheesemakers play at Oregon on Friday, May 10.
