Monroe's girls basketball team received two all-state selections for Division 2 - juniors Ashley Hermanson (first team) and Jamie Armstrong (honorable mention).
Hermanson averaged more than 12 points a game for the Cheesemakers, being one of the key components to take Monroe back to the state tournament for the second year in a row.
Armstrong also was a top player for Monroe, after scoring just a touch fewer points during the regular season than Hermanson.
In Division 4, Black Hawk also had two players honored, senior Paige Butler and junior Kim Wellnitz. Both were named to the first team. Pecatonica junior Kimee Chandler also was named first-team all state.
Butler repeated her All-State selection, and led Black Hawk to the program's first state tournament appearance. She averaged nearly 14 points per game and was named the Six Rivers East Player of the Year.
Wellnitz joined Butler as one of the best duos in the state after scoring 12 points and pulling down 5 rebounds per game for the Warriors. Potosi head coach Darby Blakley called Wellnitz, "[T]he best post player in Division 4 in the state."
Chandler also repeats as a Division 4 All-State selection after averaging just under 17 points per game this season.
