Final eight enough for Vikings

ORFORDVILLE - With eight minutes to play, the Vikings simply weren't having anything to do with an upset at the hands of the Brodhead Cardinals.

Parkview turned a 43-42 deficit entering the final quarter into a 65-49 victory behind an inspired effort by junior forward Alex Mumm, who dropped in 25 points.

Brodhead got 16 points from sharpshooter Andy Swain and even held Parkview's electrifying guard Nick Melton to just 15 points, but lost its seventh Rock Valley contest in eight tries.

The Cardinals travel to Palmyra-Eagle Tuesday.
