FOND DU LAC - Marian University freshman Kyle Bruce finished first place and led the Sabres to the championship at the Marian Invitational on Monday.
Bruce, a 2012 Monroe graduate, had a solid collegiate debut.
Marian's first-round score of 302 was the ninth-best single-round score in program history and 19 strokes better than the season-low team score last season, set at the St. Norbert Invitational April 29. Their overall score of 609 was 96 strokes better than the 705 the team shot at the same tournament last season. The top-five golfers for the Sabres all finished in the top 10.
