EVANSVILLE - The New Glarus baseball team got off to a shaky start and lost a non-conference game to Evansville 10-0 in five innings Friday, April 18.

New Glarus (0-6, 0-4 Capitol South) committed three errors.

"We have been making the hard plays," New Glarus coach Ross Eddy said. "We were kicking the ball around in the first couple of innings. In high school baseball if you kick the ball around, they will score runs."

New Glarus junior Koner French pitched three innings and gave up seven runs (four earned) on three hits. He struck out two and walked two. Eddy can understand how errors can impact a pitcher.

"Any time he has to go out and make a more perfect pitch, he ends up overthrowing," Eddy said. "I told them after the game we played really good baseball for 2 1/2 innings and so-so baseball for 2 1/2 innings. We have to put their last 2 1/2 innings together for the whole game."

The Blue Devils limited the Glarner Knights to just two hits. Gavin Binger had a double in the first and John Chenoweth had a single in the second.
