EVANSVILLE - Andy Forster and Mic Aegerter each scored two goals to propel Evansville to a 6-3 comeback win over the Monroe High School boys soccer team in the season opener Tuesday night.

Monroe senior Niven Tomasiewicz scored two goals and senior McKenzy Foley had two assists to lead the Cheesemakers. The Blue Devils erupted for five goals in the second half. Tomasiewicz scored his second goal on an assist from Foley at 81 minutes, 25 seconds to cut the Blue Devils' lead to 4-3. The Blue Devils sealed the win with two goals in the final 8:30.

"Usually, when you score three goals in a game you win," Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said. "Last year our problem was scoring. We really worked on that in the summer. We paid for every mistake we made. We can't overcome mistakes when you are playing a good team and expect to win."

Tomasiewicz scored the first goal on an assist from McKenzy Foley at 8:18. Monroe sophomore Dempzy Foley scored a goal at 44:20 to give the Cheesemakers a 2-1 lead at the half. The Cheesemakers were putting pressure on Evansville in the final 9 minutes.

"We were being aggressive and gambling a little bit," Vasquez said. "Sometimes when you do that you leave your back open to counter attacks and they were lucky to get a couple of those."
