STOUGHTON - The Monroe Senior Legion baseball team's defense broke down at the worst time in an 18-9 loss to Milton in the first round of the regional tournament Wednesday.
Monroe had six errors and Milton had six-runs in both the second and sixth innings.
"We didn't pick a very good time to play our worst game of the year," Monroe coach Eric Losenegger said. "I don't think we have had a three or four game stretch all summer where we have had six errors."
Monroe (14-5-1) had three players with multi-hit games including Jon Elmer (2-for-4 with three RBIs), Kramer Henning (2-for-4 with two RBIs) and Mitch Marty (2-for-4).
Monroe's Kris Rieder pitched five innings and took the loss. He struck out two and walked six.
Monroe will play Waunakee at 5 p.m. today at Stoughton in a must-win game.
"One more loss and we are done," Losenegger said. "It makes it that much harder to swallow."
