CINCINNATI - Darlington native Alex Erickson is vying to win the punt return job with the Cincinnati Bengals and is still on the team after the Bengals cut down their roster to 75 players Tuesday.

Erickson, a former University of Wiscon-sin wide receiver, has scored three touchdowns this preseason, including two on offense. He had an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass in his first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 12.

Erickson has averaged 41.7 yards per punt return in the preseason.

Each team in the NFL had to make roster cuts down to 75 players Tuesday. The final 53-man roster has to be set by Saturday.

In the second week of the preseason, Erickson had one punt return for 30 yards against the Detroit Lions. In last week's preseason game, Erickson returned two punts 57 yards with a long of 39 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also returned a kickoff 31 yards.

In his final year with the Badgers last season, Erickson had 77 receptions for 978 yards and three touchdowns. He was one catch away from tying Jared Abbrederis' single-season school record of 78.
