MONROE - Badger South Conference leader Madison Edgewood rolled to a 7-0 dual match win over the Monroe High School boys tennis team in the regular-season finale Tuesday.
Edgewood's Cecil Lingard defeated Monroe junior Silas Setterstrom 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2, Noah Colletti defeated Monroe junior Ryan Peterson 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3, Hunter Dunn beat Monroe sophomore Quinn Sulejmani 6-0, 6-0. Edgewood's Chris Boll beat Monroe senior Ryan Stoneback 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
At No. 1 doubles, the Cheesemakers' Kody Althaus and Tanner Purdy dropped a match to Connor Maloney and Thomas Thelen 6-0, 6-0. The Crusaders' No. 2 doubles team of Daniel Garlock and Jack Beste beat Brett Lyne and Ben Dombkowski 6-0, 6-0. The Crusaders' No. 3 doubles team of Charlie Weitz and Forrett Lynn topped Zeke Frankford and Andrew Johnson 6-0, 6-0.
Monroe finished the regular season at 0-12 overall and 0-6 in the Badger South.
Monroe will play in the Badger Conference tournament Friday at the University of Wisconsin's Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
"Hopefully, we can get a few flights past the first round (at conference) and surprise everyone," Monroe coach Ashley Hermanson said.
