DeForest too much for Cheese

DEFOREST - The Cheesemakers gave it their all against a talented DeForest team but dropped all three games by similar scores, losing 25-17, 25-19 and 25-18.

Monroe senior Taylor Barrett had eight kills and Savannah Koester had six. Barrett also led the team with three blocks.

"I told them in the locker room to play a game they can be proud of," Monroe coach Danya Ward said. "I feel that they accomplished what I asked."

Paige Murphy had nine assists for the Cheesemakers (8-15, 0-7 Badger South) and Koester added eight.

"We played right with them in the first game and then let them take off," Ward said. "There are some colds going around and I think that

affected our energy levels a little bit. Physically they were a little more there than we were."

Brodhead 3, Beloit Turner 0

BELOIT - The Cardinals upended a struggling Beloit Turner team 25-11, 25-13, 25-14.

Rachel Heller and Carly Mohns led the way for Brodhead (24-3, 8-2 Rock Valley South) with nine kills apiece. Heller also had seven aces.

"I think our serving was the difference in the game," Brodhead coach Erin Kammerer said. "Our setters also did a nice job of running the floor."

Brodhead had two players reach double digits in assists as Payton Wright dished out 12 and Kylie Moe 11.

The Trojans were led by Lauren Kleinschmidt's five kills and Emily Beyer chipped in four.

Juda 3, Pecatonica 0

JUDA - The Panthers were given all they could handle by winless Pecatonica but prevailed 25-10, 25-22, 15-25, 25-21.

Emily Gruenenfelder had 40 digs for the winless Vikings. Juda's Jessica Jordan and Morgan Adkins recorded the same number as one another in three different statistical categories, including aces where each recorded five.

"Both Jessica Jordan and Morgan Adkins had great games tonight," Panthers coach Scott Anderson said. "Morgan's aces in the fourth game were timely. She had two aces in the last four points."

Both girls also had seven kills and 18 digs. With the win, Juda improves to 7-9, 6-5 Six Rivers East.

"We are who were are and we dug well tonight," Anderson said. "We kept a lot of things in play that seemed like points for Pecatonica."

Argyle 3, Albany 0

ALBANY - Argyle junior Jenna Langmeier was a thorn in the side of the Comets at the service line.

Langmeier had nine aces and helped the Orioles knock off the Comets 25-9, 25-9, 25-15. Langmeier had a run of nine straight service points in the first set, eight straight in the second set and eight straight in the third set.

"She can serve the ball hard," Albany coach Connie Wunschel said. "There was no control on serve receive. They (Albany) were not moving our feet and passing it so we could hit it. Argyle had a hard-hitting team. They don't let up."

Albany had an 11-8 lead in the final set, but couldn't finish it off. "There was a glimmer of hope," Wunschel said. "We got to 14 and we stopped."

Albany didn't have school and coupled with Senior Night and homecoming week, it was a tough emotional match.

"I think that played into it," Wunschel said. "These kids have their routines."

Albany's Felicia Caldwell had a team-high 10 digs. Albany junior Alexis Kennedy had four kills and senior Felicia Conley added two assists. Senior Kayce Schunk had two aces.
