MONROE - It was a tall order for the Monroe volleyball team on Senior Night Thursday.
DeForest, ranked No. 8 in the Division 1 volleyball poll, swept the Cheesemakers in three sets, knocking off Monroe 25-12, 25-12, 25-8.
"We knew going to into the game that DeForest would be tough to beat, but our goal was to play with them," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said in an email. "We managed to stick with them in the beginning of each set."
Monroe sophomore Chloe Schroeder had four kills and one block. Fellow sophomore Alicia Kuester added three kills. Kuester dislocated her thumb in the second set.
"She will be out six weeks," Witt said. "That was a big blow to lose her."
Monroe senior Kari Jordan had a team-high digs and senior Maggy Johnson added four digs and one block.
With the loss, Monroe drops to 8-23, 0-6 Badger South. Monroe will play in the Badger Conference tournament at Milton Saturday.
"I'm hoping we will have a strong showing in the conference tournament," Witt said. "The team is playing pretty well together. I think they will pull together and do what they need to do to put up a strong showing."

Beloit Turner 0
BRODHEAD - The Brodhead volleyball team remains in the driver's seat to win a conference championship after sweeping Beloit Turner 25-23, 25-14, 25-10 Thursday.
Brodhead (10-3, 9-1 Rock Valley South) was led by junior Kylie Moe, who had eight kills and 10 digs. Senior Payton Wright racked up 27 assists and junior Amber Pickel had two blocks. Brodhead senior Brooke Boegli had a team-high 12 digs.
Madison Abundant Life 3, Juda 0
MADISON - Shelby Falck had a match-high 16 kills to lead Madison Abundant Life to a 25-21, 25-13, 25-13 win over Juda.
Juda (11-10, 4-6 Six Rivers East) was led by sophomore Alexis Goecks, who had three kills and senior Morgan Adkins, who had four assists and eight digs.
Riverdale 3, Darlington 0
DARLINGTON - Riverdale edged the Redbirds, sweeping three sets 25-23, 25-20, 25-20.
Darlington's Callie Norton had a team-high six kills and Megan Wiegel had a team-high six assists and seven digs. Teammate Allie Kissel added three blocks. With the loss, Darlington drops to 0-9 in the SWAL.
