LIVINGSTON - The Darlington baseball team's bats came alive in a doubleheader sweep of Iowa Grant Tuesday, 24-4, 5-4.
The Redbirds exploded for 11 runs in the first inning of the first game and cruised to a five inning win. Darlington junior Brandon Hardyman went 3 for 4 with three runs scored to lead the Redbirds. Darlington senior Wade Black was 2 for 4.
The Redbirds pulled out a thriller in the night cap, beating the Panthers 5-4 in 10 innings. Black pitched 10 innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits. He struck out 17.

NEW GLARUS - The Glarner Knights lost a slugfest to Waterloo after the Pirates pounded out 20 hits.
New Glarus carried a 9-7 lead into the seventh and the Pirates scored nine runs to seal it.
The Knights finished with 17 hits and were led by senior Brandon Gerber 3 for 4 and Braden Pittman who went 3 for 5. The Knights had several other players with multi-hit games including Evan Hauge (2 for 4), Carlin Moen (2 for 4), Eric Felt (2 for 4) and Gabe Noyce (2 for 4).
