Darlington sweeps meet

DARLINGTON - Both the Darlington girls and boys track and field teams swept a triangular meet with Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg and Cassville on Tuesday.

The Darlington girls racked up 262 points to cruise past Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg (166) and Cassville (80). The boys captured the team title with 305 points, which was ahead of Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg (263) and Cassville (5).

Darlington senior Sadie Fitzsimons won the 100-meter dash (13.5 seconds) and the triple jump (31 feet, 1⁄2 inch). Junior Kennedy Rankin won the 400 (1:09.59). Senior Reghan Komprood won the 800 (2:46.55), senior Paige Schilling won the 1,600 (6:01.90), and Emma Crist won the 3,200 (13:20.83).

The Redbirds' 1,600 relay team of Maddie Crist, Rankin, Kaylee Meyers and Kathleen Mathias won in 4:33.25. Komprood teamed with Bailey McDonald, Ilse Mendez and Gracie Douglas to win the 3,200 relay (11:51.29).

Maddie Crist won the long jump (13-4), and Hunter Weber won the pole vault (9-0).

In the boys meet, Darlington junior Tanner Evenstad won the 800 (2:15.47) and the 1,600 (4:47.06). Senior Connor Hackett won the 3,200 (10:16.37). Junior Grady Rielly won the 110 high hurdles (15.93) and took the top spot in the 300 hurdles (42.31). Darlington's Alvaro Barrera won the 400 (58.01).

Rielly teamed with Kameron Blosch, Curtis Blosch and Trevor Johnson to win the 800 relay (1:36.83). The Redbirds' 1,600 relay team of Kameron Blosch, Jared Mesiter, Johnson and Curtis Blosch won (3:51.90).

Hackett teamed with Bailey Schwartz, Daniel Maurer and Paul King to win the 3,200 relay (9:30.93). Curtish Blosch cleared 11-0 to win the pole vault. Mitchell Wagner won the triple jump (39-3 3/4), and Connor McGowan won the discus (120-1).



Sugar River boys, girls take second

BELLEVILLE - Both the Sugar River boys and girls track teams took second place at the Sugar River Invitational on Tuesday.

Oregon captured the team titles for both the boys and girls invitationals. The Oregon boys racked up 178 points in the six-team invitational. Sugar River (133) finished second followed by Albany in third (119). Pecatonica-Argyle took fifth (33.5) and Monticello was last (32.5).

The Oregon girls outdistanced Sugar River for the team title 189-124. Albany took third (99) followed by Pecatonica-Argyle in fourth (56) and Monticello in fifth (33).

For the girls, Pecatonica-Argyle senior Josie Penniston won the 200-meter dash (23.5 seconds) and the 400 (1:02.30), which was just ahead of senior teammate Elizabeth Tisch (1:06.56), who took second.

Monticello sophomore Alyssen Noriega finished second in the 100 (13.18).

Albany sophomore Megan Anderson won the 800 (2:49.46). Monticello's Maggie Bak took second in the 800 (2:50.05). Albany junior Emma Guenther won the 1,600 (6:03.10), and Sugar River senior Noelle Marie won the 3,200 (11:44.26).

Albany's 3,200 relay team of Anderson, Ciara Kaderly, Haley Knauf and Sydney Bloedel won (11:31.22). The Comets took second in the 1,600 relay (4:35.54).

Sugar River senior Krista Diaz won the 100 hurdles (16.10) and teammate Emily Bartow won the 300 hurdles (55.23), which was just ahead of Monticello's Marissa Peterson in second (56.97). Sugar River Rebecca Barr took the top spot in the pole vault (7-6), and Jade Halvensleben won the long jump (15-0) and the triple jump (30-6).

Albany sophomore Libby Beck finished first in the shot put (33-2) and in the discus (94-10).

Sugar River took second in both the 400 relay (58.25) and 800 relay (1:59.74).

Pecatonica-Argyle's Taetum Pagel took second in the high jump (4-8).

In the boys invitational, Sugar River's Cole Myers won the 110 high hurdles (16.64) and the 300 hurdles (46.90). Albany's Connor Trow took second in both the 110 hurdles (18.52) and 300 hurdles (47.10).

Sugar River's 3,200 relay team of Christian Arnett, Kyle Fredrickson, Cade O'Rourke and Kellan Zwiefel won with a time of 9:11.14.

Albany junior Garrett Hlavachek won the 800 (2:13.43) and sophomore Josh Dahl took first in the 1,600 (5:04.38), which was just ahead of Sugar River's Christian Arnett who took second (5:05.14). Albany's Logun Parker won the pole vault (8-6), and Hlavachek was second in the triple jump (37-9).

Sugar River's Cash Hoffman won the shot put (44-0), and Albany's Evan Blumer won the discus (127-9).

Fredrickson placed second in the 3,200 (10:58.91). Teammate Jacob Shrader took second in the high jump (5-6).

Sugar River senior Cade Martin finished second in the 100 (11.66). The Raiders' 400 relay team placed second (48.03) and the 1,600 relay team took second (3:47.64). Monticello's 800 relay team finished second (1:42.47).
