Darlington, Sugar River run at UW-P

PLATTEVILLE - Darlington and Sugar River took part in an eight-team boys and girls track meet at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Tuesday.

The Redbirds won three relays, the 800-meter, 1,600-meter, and 3,200-meter.

Shawni Smith, Darlington, won the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 5.52 seconds. Cassidy Chambers won the high jump for Darlington, leaping 4 feet, 10 inches and teammate Kara Krahenbuhl took top honors in the pole vault (8-6) and fellow Redbird Chayse Hermanson won the long jump (13-11).

Jessica Putland had Sugar River's lone title in the shot put with a throw of 30-3.

On the boys side, Sugar River's Ryan McCoy won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:05.38.

Darlington's Bruce King won the high jump (5-8) and Alex Erickson took top honors in the long jump (19-5.75).

The Redbirds also won the 800 relay.
