DARLINGTON - The Darlington girls basketball team lost its first SWAL Conference game to Fennimore Friday night 62-40.
The Golden Eagles opened the game with a 10-0 run before the Redbirds mounted a comeback. The Eagles outscored the Redbirds 23-6 in the second quarter to take a 17-point halftime lead. The Eagles only missed two shots in the second quarter. With the loss, the Redbirds drop to 8-3, 4-1 SWAL.
"They (Fennimore) came out and didn't miss a shot in the second quarter," Darlington coach Mike Chambers said. "That was the story of the game."
Darlington junior Amy Jorgenson scored a team-high 12 points. Cassidy Chambers scored eight points and Claire Scott added seven for the Redbirds.
