Darlington rolls Shullsburg, Riverdale

DARLINGTON - Both the Darlington girls and boys track teams made statements sweeping a meet with Shullsburg and Riverdale Tuesday.

The Darlington girls track team dominated the meet winning 15 of the 18 events. The Darlington girls racked up 131 points well ahead of Riverdale (17) and Shullsburg (12). The Redbird boys outdistanced Shullsburg 115-37 and Riverdale (16).

Darlington's Alix Brandt won the 100-meter hurdles (:17.48) and the 300 hurdles (:54.62). Darlington sophomore Cassidy Chambers won the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches) and senior Chayse Hermanson took first in the triple jump (28-11). Brianna Reichling finished first in the shot put (29-0) and Alexa Hardyman won the discus (81-10).

Harley Douglas won the 800 (2:44.35) and Chelsea Fortin won the pole vault (9-0). Tatum Evenstad took first in the 1,600 (6:12.04) and Christa Wamsley won the 3,200 (14:11.78).

The Redbird girls won all four relays. The Redbirds' 3,200 relay team won with a time of 11:18.29. The 400 relay team took first with a time of 58.95 seconds. The 800 relay finished in 2:06.71 and the 1,600 relay had a time of 4:40.61.

The Darlington boys track team won 12 of 18 events en route to the win.

Darlington's Kyle Johnson won the 110 high hurdles (:17.68) and the 200 (:25.02). Sam Johnson took first in the 300 hurdles (:47.68). Darlington's Dylan Nyffenegger finished first in the 100 (:12.26) and Michael Sinclair won the 1,600 (5:10.16). Brady McDaniel took first in the 3,200 (10:43.74) and Levi Wedig won the pole vault (12-0).

Sam Johnson teamed with Nyffenegger, Ethan Glendenning and Kyle Johnson to win the 800 relay with a time of 1:45.12.

The Redbirds' 3,200 relay team took first with a time of 8:59.31.

Garth Garrison took first in the 800 (2:17.55) and Eli Humphrey won the discus (109-0). The Redbirds' 1,600 relay won with a time of 3:52.62.

Wis. Heights Double Dual

MAZOMANIE - The Sugar River boys and girls track teams swept a triangular meet with Wisconsin Heights and Waterloo Tuesday.

The Sugar River girls outdistanced Wisconsin Heights 78-45 and Waterloo (21). The Sugar River boys beat Wisconsin Heights 77-48 and were well ahead of Waterloo (21).

Sugar River junior Wesley Morgan won three individual events including the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 7.4 seconds), 1,600 (4:45.9) and the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches). Senior Kirbe French finished first in the high jump (5-8) and the long jump (18-11). Kelvin Johnson took first in the 300 hurdles (:43.5) and Garrison Woods won the triple jump (39-5 1/4).

The Raiders also won the 800 (1:39.1), 1,600 (3:55.6) and 3,200 (3:55.6) relays.

On the girls side, Sugar River junior Victoria Ortgiesen won the 100 hurdles (:16.9) and the 300 hurdles (:50.9). Jessica Putland won the shot put (34-2) and the discus (98-2) for the Raiders. Sugar River senior Quinn Rear finished first in the 100 (:13.8) and Alexis Hanson won the 200 (:28.5). Senior Ashley Brusveen took first in the high jump (5-0).

The Raiders won the 400 (:56.0), 800 (2:03.5), 1,600 (4:30) and 3,200 (11:47) relays.
