DARLINGTON - The Redbirds' girls track team dominated the relay events at the Darlington Invite Friday.
Darlington senior Kara Krahenbuhl helped the Redbirds win the 800 relay and take second in the 400 relay. She added a third place in the 100-meter dash (:13.80).
In the 800 relay, Krahenbuhl teamed with Lisa Kreidler, Chayse Hermanson and Kayla Lange to win the race in 1 minute, 53.54 seconds. Pecatonica-Argyle's 800 relay team of Holly Vlasak, Brittany Ziller, Abby Flanagan and Emma Marion finished third (2:01.05).
Kreidler teamed with Hermanson, Lange and Hannah Huffman to take first in the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:19.05. The Redbirds also had a second 1,600 relay team that included Taryn Evenstad, Olivia Wedig, Alix Brandt and Cassidy Chambers take third.
Black Hawk junior Rachel Rygh won both the 100 (:13.45) and 200 (:28.10). Rygh finished nine-hundredths of a second ahead of Huffman in the 200. Black Hawk senior Katie Place won the triple jump (32-feet, 6-inches) and took second in the long jump (13-7). Black Hawk senior Cassie Jorgenson tied Darlington junior McKenzie Pickett for third in the shot put (30-10).
Monticello senior Kelsey Bernet finished first in both the 1,600 (5:43.18) and 3,200 (12:01.94). Darlington's Cheyenne Wolfe took second in the 1,600 (6:00.53).
The Redbirds' 400 relay team of Krahenbuhl, Elizabeth Mathias, Evenstad and Hermanson finished second (:55.64). Pecatonica-Argyle's 400 relay team of Vlasak, Ziller, Flanagan and Marion took third (:56.52).
The Redbirds' 3,200 relay team of Olivia Wedig, Amy Jorgenson, Christa Wamsley and Claire Scott was second with a time of 10:50.55.
Scott won the 800 (2:39.72) and Wedig finished second in the 400 (1:05.90). The Redbirds also got a first place from Brandt in the 100 hurdles (19 seconds) just ahead of Black Hawk's Alyssa Piefer, who was third (:19.44).
Kreidler won the 300 hurdles (:51.62). Darlington senior Ashley Martin took second in the discus (94-7). Abigail Merriam finished third in the high jump for the Redbirds (4-6). Darlington had three of the top four pole vaulters. In addition to Krahenbuhl winning the pole vault, Chelsea Fortin was second (7-6) and Evenstad was fourth (6-6).
