Lakeside Luth. 55, New Glarus 41

NEW GLARUS - The depth and quickness of Lakeside Lutheran proved to be a bit too much to handle for the New Glarus girls basketball team Friday night, as the Glarner Knights fell to the Warriors, 55-41.

Lakeside Lutheran led 19-10 after a quarter of play and the Knights were never able to dig out of that hole. Although they lost, New Glarus coach Megan Scheele wasn't disappointed in her team's effort.

"Lakeside Lutheran has lots of depth. They pressed us all night. They're very fast and quick. They can sub fast and they're quick on 'D'," said Scheele. "We worked very hard tonight. We didn't win, but they handled themselves. We played a very good program and learned a lot from tonight."

Scheele was also pleased with the way her team responded coming off a one-point loss to Wisconsin Heights the night before.

"They were upset they lost by one point. I don't know if it's better to lose by one or by a lot," she said. "They were composed tonight. That was good to see."

Courtney Feller was the big scorer for the Glarner Knights (11-9, 7-3 Capitol South), as she scored 27 of the teams 41 points.

"She scored consistently. She had 3 threes tonight, she was also attacking the basket. She was kind of our hot shooter tonight," said Scheele. "Sierra Watrud didn't do a lot scoring wise, but she handled the press very well. I was very pleased with Sierra bringing it up and handling it."
