Darlington fares well at Wisconsin Rapids invite

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Darlington's boys team finished second overall as a team behind the state's top-ranked program at Saturday's Wisconsin Rapids Invite.

The Redbirds amassed 49 points, 13 behind Stevens Point, who had its top four runners finish in the top 9, with the fifth coming in at No. 14.

Tyson Miehe led Darlington's running attack, finishing fifth overall with a time of 16 minutes, 56 seconds, nearly a minute behind champion Brad Woodford of Waukesha South in the 5-kilometer run. Destin Komprood finished seventh overall (17:13) for the Redbirds, one place and one second ahead of teammate Michael Sinclair (eighth, 17:14). Kent Miehe (12th, 17:25) and Brady McDaniel (17th, 17:38) capped Darlington's top five scorers.

On the girls side, the Redbirds finished fourth as a team, trailing champion Eagan, Minn., Oshkosh Lourdes and Stevens Point.

Hannah Robiolio was 16th overall with a time of 16:06 on the 4-kilometer run.

Christa Wamsley (22nd, 16:23), Cheyenne Wolfe (35th, 16:54), Amy Jorgenson (38th, 17:04) and Harley Douglas (40, 17:10) rounded out the Redbirds' top five.
