Darlington dominates relays

FENNIMORE - Darlington's boys and girls cross country team's each took first at the Fennimore Relays Saturday.

Redbird freshman Tyson Miehe took second overall with a time of 16 minutes, 43 seconds, trailing Tri State Homeschool's Joshua Mirth by just 17 seconds.

Darlington had six runners place in the top 16 in the boys 5 kilometer race. Kent Miehe (17:48) was 11th, Connor Roche (17:53) 12th, Destin Komprood (17:59) 14th, Michael Sinclair (18:00) 15th and Brady McDaniel (18:04) 16th.

New Glarus-Monticello sophomore Ryan McCoy was third overall with a time of 16:52. Teammates Alexander Yeiser (10th, 17:46), Wesley Morgan (18th, 18:06) and Reid Zanoya (19th, 18:07) also finished in the top 20.

As a team, New Glarus-Monticello took second in the small school division with a total time of 89:07. Darlington's 88:23 led not only the small school division, but was faster than the large division winner Lodi (90:58) as well.

Pecatonica-Argyle (94:10) finished fifth in the small school division. Cameron Colson (17:44) was eighth and teammate Chris James (18:04) was 17th.

On the girl's side, Darlington led all schools with a team time of 84:29 in the 4 kilometer race. Lodi (85:01) led the large school division. New Glarus-Monticello (91:16) was fifth in the small schools.

Darlington sophomore Cheyenne Wolfe finished ninth overall with a time of 16:30, 37 seconds behind first-place Kayla Scheckles of Fennimore. Amy Jorgenson (11th, 16:42) was the second Redbird to cross the finish line.

Pecatonica-Argyle's Kendra Sigg (16:50) took 14th and New Glarus-Monticello's LouAnn Judd (17:05) finished 19th, one spot ahead of Darlington's Hannah Robiolio (17:09).
