ALBANY - Mitchell Kauk was in command on the mound, pitching a one-hitter to lead Albany to an 11-1 win in five innings over Black Hawk Monday.

Kauk pitched four innings and gave up one run on one hit. The only hit for the Warriors was an RBI single from Tayler Rupnow. Kauk struck out nine and walked three.

Albany (3-9, 3-8 Six Rivers East) had 12 hits. Albany junior Mitchell Trow went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Albany junior Clinton Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI and freshman Brock Gilkes was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kauk also finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Albany coach Brandon Bakken said Sullivan's home run got the team fired up.

"If you are stringing hits together and putting the ball in play, good things will happen," Bakken said. "It was probably one of our better offensive games of the year."

Pecatonica 10, Monticello 0

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Chase Norton and sophomore Kyle Kleppe combined tossed a one-hit shutout in a 10-0 win over Monticello in five innings.

Norton pitched three innings and gave up just one hit. He struck out four and walked five. Norton and Kleppe combined walked eight.

"They struggled with their control," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "They kind of worked into trouble and out of trouble. They got a couple of key strikeouts when they needed to. That was encouraging."

Pecatonica junior Drew Schliem, Kleppe and freshman A.J. Hendrickson each went 2-for-3 to lead the Vikings.

Monticello senior Lucas Marty had the lone hit for the Ponies.

Pecatonica (9-3, 6-3 Six Rivers East) is still in the hunt for a conference championship. Pecatonica will be at Albany today and will then play a doubleheader Friday at Cassville. The Vikings will then complete a suspended game with Shullsburg-Benton Saturday. The game will pick up in the top of the fifth inning. Pecatonica will host Barneveld Tuesday, May 13. Barneveld (9-2) has a 1.5 game lead in the conference.

"The crossover games count as conference games," Strommen said. "They are all important," Strommen said. "We need to clean up some things on defense and get some timely hits."

Barneveld 7, Argyle 2

Barneveld 9, Argyle 2

ARGYLE - Barneveld stayed in the driver's seat as the Eagles make their pitch to win the conference for the fifth straight year.

Barneveld swept a doubleheader from Argyle defeating the Orioles 7-2 in the first game and 9-2 in the second of the twinbill.

"In the first game, it's probably the best defense we have played this year," Argyle coach Chuck Bredeson said. "They (Barneveld) have been there before and they are winners. They are just a hell of a good team."

Argyle junior Brock Bruehlman went 2-for-3 to lead the Orioles. The Orioles (4-8-1, 4-6-1 Six Rivers East) and Eagles were tied at 2 after three innings.

"We tried to bunt a guy in and we couldn't," Bredeson said. "When they got guys on third they scored. That was the difference. We couldn't come up with the big hit when we needed to."

Argyle senior Alec Treuthardt pitched six innings and gave up five earned runs on six hits. He struck out nine and walked three.

Barneveld's Dustin Hodgson pitched a complete game and gave up two runs on eight hits. He struck out seven and walked one.

In the second game, Orioles were plagued by three errors in the first.

"We kicked the ball around a little," Bredeson said. "They scored three runs and they should have only had one."

Argyle's Colton Ploessl pitched two innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits. He walked three. Argyle sophomore Riley Ostby pitched two innings and two errors on pop ups in the seventh led to three more runs by the Eagles.

Barneveld's Tyler Hellenbrand pitched six innings to get the win for the Eagles. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits. He struck out nine and walked three.
