Clinton holds off Cardinals

BRODHEAD - Kelly Loudon scored a game-high 21 points to help Clinton upend the Brodhead girls basketball team 70-58 on Tuesday.

The Cougars built a 14-point lead in the first half, 36-22.

Erin Nyhus and Brooke Bescup each scored a team-high 14 points for Brodhead (1-5, 1-4 Rock Valley South). Senior Morgan Cook added 12 points, and senior Ali Rosheisen chipped in nine points.

The Cardinals hit six 3-pointers as a team. Nyhus, Bescup and Rosheisen each made two 3-pointers.

The Cardinals made just 8 of 16 free throws compared to the Cougars, who shot 75 percent from the foul line (18 of 24).



Mineral Point 48, Darlington 39

MINERAL POINT - Sydney Staver scored a game-high 23 points to propel the Pointers to a win over rival Darlington.

Darlington (6-3, 2-2 SWAL) led by two points at the half. The Pointers (6-1, 3-0) outscored the Redbirds 28-17 in the second half.

Darlington senior Callie Norton and sophomore Kaylee Meyers each scored a team-high eight points.
