City track meet takes center stage

Monroe hosted the All-City summer track meet on Tuesday for second-to eighth-graders, and more than 180 athletes competed.

Evan Thompson in the second through fourth grade boys competition won the 100-meter dash with a time of 17.47 seconds and was on the winning 400 relay team. Thompson combined with Jake Meier, Brayden Zettle and C.J. Leuzinger to win the 400 relay with a time of 1 minute, 12.88 seconds.

Sydney Mathiason won the girls 400 in the second through fourth competition with a time of 1:24.54 and she was on the winning 400 relay team. Mathiason teamed with Ally Einbeck, Olivia Werth and Kenndey Ludwig to win the 400 relay with a time of 1:09.80.

Natalie Dillon won the girls fifth and sixth grade race with a time of 15.43 seconds. Carter Sawdey took the top spot on the boys side (:14.87).

Sawdey won the long jump with a jump of 12-3.

Sam Kind won the 1,600 (6:53.54) and the softball throw (100-6).

In the 400 relay, Kind teamed with Drake Ingold, Parker Ingold and Jacob Kind to win the race with a time of 1:05.99.

Dessaray Leopold finished first in the 200 (:35.13) and Jaron Kuester won the boys 200 (:32.46).

Lexus Trickel took first in the 400 (1:23.87) and Ian Salzwedel won the boys 400 (1:20.20).

Jordan Hirsbrunner won the 1,600 with a time of 7:01.90 and the long jump (10-3). She was on the winning 400 relay. Hirsbrunner teamed with Allyce Fahrney, Alicia Kuester and Sydney Schultz to win the 400 relay in 1:05.77.

Nick Baumann took first in the boys 800 (2:47.79) and 1,600 (6:05.81).

Kaitlin Carpenter won the 800 (3:55.10) and she took first in the discus (40-2).

Jake Hirsbrunner finished first in the seventh and eighth grade boys triple jump (29-3) and in the 400 (1:07.90).

Morgan Bonjour finished first in the girls seventh and eighth grade 100 (:16.64), while Cody Faust won the boys 100 (:16.44).

Shayna Krebs won the 200 (:38.46) and Ramsey Benkert finished first in the 400 (1:23.62) and the 800 (3:14.22).

Whitney Disch won two individual events, including the 1,600 (6:57.73) and the shot put (23-7).
