SAUK CITY - Just forty-eight hours after blanking Monona Grove on Tuesday, the Monroe Cheesemakers hit the road again on Thursday to face Sauk Prairie. The road swing proved successful as the Cheesemakers swept both the singles and doubles for a 7-0 win over the Eagles.
Number one singles player Kristin McArdle defeated Nicole Kindschi 6-2, 6-1. Ellie Shuda, playing No. 2 singles, defeated Katie Shelton 6-1, 6-0. Monroe continued to dominate in singles as No. 3 player, senior Kiera Berger, handled Hannah Molitor, 6-2, 6-4 and No. 4 Lily Priewe topped Avery Bannan 6-0, 6-1.
The No.1 doubles team of Kelsey Erickson and Ashley Hermanson beat Lauren Anderson and Emily Chrisler 6-1, 6-0. Emily Grossen and Gwen Sutter, at No. 2 doubles, rolled to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Amy Lange and Emily Brickl. Taylor Weis and McKenzie Bruce defeated Ally Wilcox and Kaitlyn Brattset in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, (3) 6-2, in No. 3 doubles.
"If you look across, they were consistent. They were aggressive and tried new things," said Monroe head coach Stephanie Miller.
The junior varsity team also won over Sauk Prairie, 9-4.
The Cheesemakers will face two of the toughest teams in the Badger South next week when they travel to Fort Atkinson on Tuesday and host Madison Edgewood on Thursday.
