MADISON - The Cheesemakers upended the Badger South leader Madison Edgewood in the regular season finale Monday night, 2-1 in eight innings.

Logan Wells pitched 7 1/3 innings for the Cheesemakers and Kramer Henning pitched the final two outs for the save. Wells struck out five and walked just one batter to pick up the win on the hill.

Henning was 2 for 4 at the plate and Mitch Riese had a double for the Cheesemakers, who will host Brodhead-Juda in the opening round of the WIAA Division 2 playoffs on Friday.

Neither team had scored through the first seven innings, but the Cheesemakers plated two runners in the top of the eight. Riese's double brought in leadoff hitter Dylan Schwitz and Mitch Marty later brought in Riese.

Edgewood scored its lone run in the bottom half of the frame off of Wells, but Henning closed the door.
