ELKHORN - Monroe won the Elkhorn Quad in dominating fashion on Saturday.

The Cheesemakers won titles at every flight excpet for No. 2 and 3 singles. Monroe junior Kristin McArdle at No. 1 singles won the championship and finished 3-0 including defeating Elkhorn's Bryanne Blanton, who was a special state qualifier last year, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-2.

"That win can give Kristin a decent seed coming into the subsectional," Monroe coach Stephanie Miller said.

Alyssa Quinn at No. 4 singles went 3-0 and won the title at her flight.

The No. 1 doubles team of senior Ashley Hermanson and junior Kelsey Erickson remained unbeaten this year (14-0) by winning three matches.

Hermanson and Erickson defeated Milton's Marianne Moser and Sharey Furseth, 6-1, 6-0. Hermanson and Erickson defeated Waterford's Allie Layor and Lydia Free, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-4.

The Cheesemakers' No. 1 doubles duo defeated Elkhron's Kyla Price and Kim Hanson, 6-1, 6-1.

Monroe seniors Gwen Sutter and Emily Grossen also remained undefeated this season by going 3-0 at No. 2 doubles to win the title.

Sutter and Grossen improved to (10-0) playing at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Sutter and Grossen defeated Elkhorn's Jackie Schulz and Emma Wargolet, 6-1, 6-2. In their second match, Sutter and Grossen defeated Milton's Erin Carr and Amy Diestler, 6-3, 6-1.

Sutter and Grossen finished the day by beating Watertown's Miranda Pomije and Bethany Schulz, 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 3 doubles, the Monroe senior tandem of Taylor Weis and McKenzie Bruce won all three of their matches to win their flight. Weis and Bruce improved to (11-2) this year playing at No. 2 and 3 doubles.

Weis and Bruce won their first match over Waterford's Sarah Rosenzw and Sarah Helwig, 6-1, 6-1. In the second match, Weis and Bruce defeated Elkhorn's Emily Remington and Victoria Bahl, 6-0, 6-1. The Cheesemakers' No. 3 doubles team rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Milton's Brooke Fearon and Amanda Schoeberle in the last match.

Madeline Arnold and Tessa Brown at No. 4 doubles also went 3-0 and won the title at their flight.

Monroe sophomore Ellie Shuda went 2-1 and lost her only match to Elkhorn's Katherine Neshak, 6-2, 6-1.

Fellow sophomore Lily Priewe went 2-1 at Elkhorn and lost her only match to the Elks' Maggie Farley, 6-0, 6-1.
